"I bought a one-way ticket, 'cause I knew I'd never see the ground, unless I was aboard a jet plane and we were going down. When I wiped the tears from my eyes, the warm water took me by surprise. And I woke up beside the ocean, I realized: I must be in California." -Owl City

A very Minnesotan summer.

As you may have noticed, I took a break from blogging this summer. I know, I know… I’m sorry. There were a number of reasons that I decided not to blog this summer, but that part isn’t very important. In any case, today is the last day of August and so it seems like a good time to begin blogging again. I’ve been at campus for 20 days now—20 crazy, stressful, overwhelming, amazing days. I’m still trying to process all that happened. Once I have processed things a little more, I will be posting about these last three weeks. Until then, I would like to give you a recap of my summer.

This summer, I…

The Great LA Adventure.

During finals week, some of my friends and I decided to travel into downtown LA and do some exploring. We were going to visit a few spots where the movie (500) Days of Summer was filmed, along with seeing a few other sights. Things didn’t go exactly as planned—parking was even harder to find than we expected and we couldn’t always find the place we were looking for—but it was a lot of fun.

By the end of the afternoon, we were starving. We decided to make one last In-N-Out run for dinner. We followed the GPS, which brought us to some random In-N-Out in a far-off part of LA. We didn’t really know where we were, but we really needed food, so we went inside. We then found ourselves to be the minority. Classic.

Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel sat here! Right here!

Eggstreme Easter Eggstravaganza.

Something kind of crazy happened recently: 4,000 Easter eggs were hid all around campus. And by hid, I really just mean scattered, because they were pretty much right out in the open. Some of them had trinkets inside, and the rest had raffle tickets to be turned it.

That evening, there was an event outside of the SUB. The King’s Men performed, and tickets were drawn for prizes. There was free popcorn, cotton candy, and candy. Madeline, Christi, and I went down there for a little bit, especially to hear the King’s Men. They did an awesome job, in case you were wondering.
